Since i have been studying media, i have learned to use Adobe Photoshop to a decent level. I can create a basic magazine front and back cover and to do this i have to know how to: insert photos, crop photos, insert texts and how to use the grid lines to my advantage for the layout.
8/10/13
I have learned the features required to make a magazine. On the front cover it contains masthead, cover lines, barcode, main image, etc. On the double page spread, they should have a standfirst, pull quote image, slug, drop capital, etc.

While i have been putting my mood board together in Photoshop, i have learned to crop the images i have chosen with the magic wand tool. This is very useful because it eliminates the unnecessary parts of the images therefore is focuses on the exact part i want. e.g. background.
2/11/13
I have learned how to use the magic wand tool efficiently to remove any unwanted parts of the image such as the background to emphasise the main purpose of the image.
19/11/13
When creating my double page spread I have learned to change the gradient and the brightness of my images. This is to make the image clear and visible on the page for the reader.
10/12/13
I have now completed my double page spread where I have included a lot of the conventions needed for the magazine pages. I have used a pull quote, byline, drop cap, etc. I have used these because this is what really makes it look like a real professional double page spread in a magazine.

I am currently creating a contents page therefore I have learned the conventions needed for this such as images, text, etc. I have also learned what layout would be most appropriate and I have found that contents page usually has approximately 3-6 images. Below is a rough plan of my contents page.

I have now changed the contents layout slightly as I personally think it looks better with 2 images rather than 3+. It looks a lot less cluttered and more professionally.

In this lesson of using Photoshop, I now know how to alter the contrast of the images. This will help to enhance the images to make them look more appealing to the naked of eye of the target audience.

I have recently started my evaluation where I asked for audience feedback. This has helped me realise what I can improve in the future. I have provided screenshots of the answers and questions asked. This can be seen in the evaluation tab under post evaluation feedback.
